Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique. The predominate form of Reiki practiced throughout the world today, also known as Usui Reiki, was created by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. It’s a complementary or alternative health approach. Reiki does not directly cure diseases or illnesses. Instead, it’s used as a way to manage symptoms and improve general well-being.
During a reiki session, the practitioner places their hands either directly on you or just above you to bring about healing. The practitioner is able to stimulate your body’s natural healing abilities.

Healing Symptoms sometimes called (Healing crisis) is a temporary worsening of symptoms after treatment. You may also see it called , a detox reaction, or a cleansing reaction.
In some cases healing symptoms briefly worsen before beginning to improve.
The healing symptoms are caused by the elimination of toxins and blocked energy from your body in response to treatment. It’s viewed as a natural part of your body’s healing process.
A typical Reiki session is usually 30 0r 60 minutes. At your first appointment, you’ll meet with your reiki practitioner. You’ll have a short introduction or chat about the process and your expectations or intentions. Let your practitioner know about any symptoms you want addressed or if there are places in the body on which you’d like them to focus. Also, let the practitioner know if you have any injuries or places that are sensitive to touch.
You’ll lie down on a treatment table. Usually soft, relaxing music will be playing in the background. For the most part there won’t be any talking during the session, but you can feel free to let your practitioner know if there’s something you need to feel more comfortable or to share what you’re experiencing.
The practitioner will move their hands around your body. They may touch you lightly or have their hands just above your body.
You may experience sensations in the body such as heat or tingling. Some people report seeing visualizations such as colours or pictures, or having memories appear. Try to allow whatever arises to pass without attaching too much meaning to it. Your experiences may become deeper the more you continue with Reiki.
Wear clean, loose-fitting, comfortable clothing. You may wish to wear natural fabrics such as cotton, linen, or silk. Remove your shoes, jewellery, and glasses before your session, and keep your phone switched off or leave it behind.
Drink plenty of water after your session. Some people feel calm, peaceful, or energized. You may also feel tired.
The wonderful aspect of Distant Reiki is we can be anywhere to receive it and is just as effective as experiencing it in person!
Reiki energy “works” regardless of where we are located since it transcends time and space.
Having a session in the comfort of our own home can be more relaxing than spending time driving to get to and from the practitioner!

Treat this time like a meditation,. Create a peaceful environment, whether that is going outside at work and finding a park bench in the sun, or sitting under a tree.
If you’re at home, sit in your favorite meditation space, a beautiful spot in your garden, or lie on your bed. Make the space comfortable with cushions and a blanket if needed, use your crystals, candles, essential oils, or incense and some meditation music to create atmosphere.
Sit, or lie comfortably, and make sure you won’t be too cold. Wear loose, nonrestrictive clothing.
This time is for you. Close your eyes and take several deep, slow breaths to relax. Tell your chatty mind that it is not needed right now. No-one needs you right now, you have no-where else to be, just here. Bring your focus to the sounds around you, if thoughts or questions or ideas come into your mind, just let them be there, and then go. Don’t latch on and go down that path. If you feel your attention wander, just return to following your breath in and out.
State your intention to receive the healing energy being sent your way. That is all you need to do. Forget concepts of time according to the clock, your timezone in the world, and your current physical location. Just trust that whatever you need, is coming to you right now, at the perfect time for you.
Take a moment to observe any thoughts that popped up during your time, often the most intuitive ideas come to you in these quiet moments. After your session, it’s always good to drink a glass of water when there has been energy movement it helps with the detox. Enjoy the harmony you feel when your energies are balanced, mind, body and soul.
By doing regular sessions, you can enhance that wonderful feeling of Harmony., You may feel some detox symptoms, such as a physical or emotional outlet. Cry, laugh or slight headache, sore throat etc these are all signs that your stuck energy has been stirred up and working its way out. The first session can show some stronger symptoms if you have never had it or has been a while. as you have regular sessions you have less trapped or toxic energy.
